The Sugarcane Research Institute (SRI) of Sri Lanka is a statutory body established on December 29, 1981, under the provisions of Parliamentary Act No. 75 of 1981. It was set up to replace the Research and Development Division of the Sri Lanka Sugar Corporation, with the objective of addressing the technical and scientific requirements of the country’s sugarcane industry.
