SRL LANKA ELECTRICITY ACT, No. 36 OF 2024
Order under subsection (2) of section 1
BY virtue of the powers vested in me under subsection (2) of section 1 of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act, No. 36 of 2024, I, Punya Sri Kumara Jayakodi, Minister of Energy, having satisfied that –
- the Preliminary Transfer Plan has been prepared by the Power Sector Reforms Secretariat on January 5, 2026;
- the national electricity policy as part of the national policy on energy including the national tariff policy have been approved by the Cabinet of Ministers on March 3, 2026; and
- the Annual Power Procurement Plan, the Long Term Generation Expansion Plan and Long Term Transmission Development Plan have been prepared by the Ceylon Electricity Board on February 18, 2026,
do by this Order appoint March 09, 2026 as the date on which the provisions of the aforesaid Act, other than the provisions specified in the Schedule hereto, shall come into operation.
