The Mahaweli Authority of Sri Lanka (MASL) is a state-owned corporation responsible for implementing the ‘Mahaweli River Development Scheme’—Sri Lanka’s largest water resources and multipurpose irrigation project. Established on April 19, 1979, under Parliamentary Act No. 23 of 1979, it operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Irrigation.
