Vacancies
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following vacant posts in the Postgraduate Institute of English Language affiliated to the Open University of Sri Lanka until 21.07.2025.
01. Management Assistant Grade III
1. Required Qualifications:
- Must have passed one (06) subjects with credit passes in the following subjects at the G.C.E. (O/L) examination:
- Sinhala Language/Tamil Language
- English Language/English Literature
- Mathematics
and
- Must have passed all the subjects at the G.C.E. (A/L) examination at one sitting. (Except for the General Public Examination Paper) (Passing 3 subjects in one sitting under the old syllabus will be sufficient.)
- Preference will be given to those who meet the following qualifications.
- A satisfactory course in Computer Applications of not less than six (06) months duration from a recognized institution.
- Two (02) years experience in the use of Computer Application Packages
2. Other Qualifications:
- Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
- Must not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 30 years of age as on the closing date for receipt of applications.
- Must be of good character.
3. Salary Scale:
Rs. 49,475-17×540 – 58,655 (Monthly) U-MN 1(III) *
4. Recruitment:
Written and/or Practical Test and Interview
- Knowledge of Sinhala, Tamil and English Language
- Intelligence Test and General Knowledge
- Computer Literacy
02. Work Assistant Grade III
- Required Qualifications:
- Must have passed the G.C.E. (O.L.) Examination with at least two credit passes in six (06) subjects at not more than two sittings.
2. Age:
- Must not be less than 18 years of age and not more than 45 years of age as on the closing date for receipt of applications.
3. Others
- Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
- Must be physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the post and to serve in any part of the island.
- Must be of good character.
3. Salary Scale:
- Rs. 42,775-16×450 – 49,975 (Monthly) U-PL 1(III)
4. Recruitment:
- Through Professional Test and/or Structured Interview
In addition to the above basic salary, other allowances approved by the University Grants Commission will also be paid as per the relevant regulations.
Conditions of Service
- This is a permanent post. Appointment is subject to a probationary period of three (03) years.
- If the selected candidates are currently serving in a Government Department, they should obtain their release through their respective appointing authority.
- Government servants are not entitled to maintain their pension rights while in the service of the University.

Box 21, Nawala, Nugegoda on or before 21.07.2025. The post applied for should be clearly mentioned on the top left corner of the envelope containing the applications.
Applicants currently serving in higher educational institutions, government departments, corporations and statutory boards should send their applications through the relevant Heads of Departments.
Applications not forwarded by the relevant Heads of Departments as above, not containing the required details, not clear, received after the due date, not accompanied by photocopies of relevant certificates in proof of qualifications and experience or not fulfilling any other requirement will be rejected without notice. Once an application is rejected, no reconsideration will be made for any reason whatsoever.
