Calling for Applications – Recruitment of Sports Officers (Grade III Service Category of Management Assistant Technical Segment 02) in the Southern Provincial Ministry of Sports upon Open Recruitment Basis 2025

“Recruitment of Sports Officers (Grade111 Service Category of Management Assistant Technical Segment 02) upon “Open Recruitment Basis”

Applications are invited for the Post of Sports Officer of Southern Provincial Department of Sports from the Citizens
of Sri Lanka with qualifications stated below.

01. Recruitment Process :

Applicants who meet the qualifications specified in the notification will be subjected to a professional examination
conducted by the Southern Provincial Sports Department and the Sports Medicine Unit, and the candidates who pass
it will be interviewed by an interview board appointed by the Secretary to the Southern Provincial Ministry of Sports,
and the vacancies will be filled in accordance with the order of marks obtained in the aptitude assessment interview.
The method of obtaining marks in each of these tests is given under number 8 of this announcement.

02. Required Qualifications:

Educational and Vocational qualifications

(A)

To have passed the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) examination in six (06) subjects at one
sitting with Credit Passes in Sinhala/Tamil/English Language, Mathematics including two other subjects;
and
To have obtained Simple Passes in all subjects in GCE Advanced Level Examination – New Syllabus (excluding
the General Common Test) or have obtained equivalent passes in three (03) subjects of the Old Syllabus of same examination;
and
To have secured 1st or 2nd places in competitions held at Provincial Level (inter-district) at the National Games
conducted by the Ministry of Sports.
or
Having secured 1st, 2nd & 3rd places at National Championship Sports Meets conducted by National Sports
Associations registered under the Sports Act;
or

(B).

To have passed the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) examination in six (06) subjects at one
sitting with Credit Passes in Sinhala/Tamil/English Language, Mathematics including two other subjects;
and
To have earned medals, respectively for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places in South Asians Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Olympic Events, World Championships representing Sri Lanka.

Required Qualifications:

It is mandatory for the officers recruited under the above qualifications to have earned a Technical Diploma of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level six (06) related to the Sports Field conducted by the Tertiary Educational Commission within three (03) years following the appointment to be confirmed in the post. The Service of the officers who fail to earn a Technical Diploma of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level six (06) related to the Sports Field shall not be confirmed with in the first three (03) years of service and their salary increments shall be suspended.

In case of an officer who have been subjected to such Salary Increment Suspension fails to obtain a Technical Diploma of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level Six (06) relevant to the field of Sports within 2 years, the Secretary to the Ministry of Sports, Southern Province shall terminate his appointment on the approval of the Southern Provincial Public Service Commission on account of inefficiency.
