Vacancies
The Official Languages Commission calls applications from Sri Lankans who possess a good health condition, excellent character and, qualifications stated in this advertisement to fill the vacancies exist for the following posts.
01. Language Officer
Educational Qualifications
Language recognized by the University Grants Commission (Sinhala, Tamil and English included as subjects) must have been obtained a degree relevant to the fields of Linguistics, Translating Education or Social Science.
02. Language Promotion and Investigating Officer
2.1. Educational Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Must possess a degree in Human Resources Management, Social Science or Languages, obtained from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission.
- Must have been acquired experience in administration/ coordination and investigations.
- Computer literacy.
Additional Qualifications
- Knowledge in all three languages viz Sinhala/Tamil/English
- Information Technology/Law
- Journalism/Mass Media
- Project Management
- Knowledge in Translation
General Information
Age limit
Applicants must be between the age limit of 18 and 45 years (including both years) as at 28.07.2025. The maximum age limit won’t apply for the internal applicants.
- Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.
- Must be in a good physical and mental fitness to serve at any part in the island for well functioning of the tasks assigned to the post.
- Must possess an excellent character.
Salary Scale
- Language Officer (JM 1-1-2025) Rs. 72,650-10 × 1,360- 18 × 2,040-122,970/=
- Language Promotion and Investigating Officer (MA 5-2 2025) Rs. 62,310-10 × 1,360-15 × 1,670-5 × 2,040-111,160/= Confirmation letter for the degrees obtained from foreign and local private Universities, issued by the University Grants Commission must be submitted.
These posts are permanent and non-pensionable. Appointees must contribute for the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) which is 12% by employer and, 8% by the employee. The Official Languages Commission will contribute 3% of the appointees’ salary for the Employees Trust Fund (ETF).
Persons who will be appointed will subject to a probation period of 03 years. The appointee will be confirmed in his/her post at the end of the probation period if his/her works and conduct is satisfactory and, he/she has been passed the first efficiency bar test. Government servants, officers in the provincial public service, statutory boards
and corporations must send their applications through the relevant department head.
Qualified applicants will be called for an interview and/or a written test as may be relevant and, selection will be made based on the results of the interview and/or the written test aforesaid.
