Filling of Grama Niladhari Vacancies

01. Since it was observed that filling of Grama Niladhari vacancies existing throughout the island is a timely need, recommendations for filling of 1658 vacancies remaining after recruitment of 223 new trainees to fill the vacancies arising from non-acceptance of training and abandonment of training during training out of the 1881 vacancies existing as per the vacancy list updated by the District Secretariats as on 2024.12.31 were submitted by the Department of Management Services for the approval of the Officers Committee appointed by the General Board to review the recruitment process in the public service and manage the staff.

02. Approval has been given for this at the General Board meeting dated 2025.05.26 and accordingly, the preparation of the Gazette notification regarding the recruitment examination is underway.

03. After implementing the recruitment process in the next few months, it is expected to recruit suitable employees for quarterly training by December 2025.

04. Accordingly, when preparing the 2026 annual budget estimates, I kindly request that the number expected to be recruited be included in the actual staff and the expenditure estimates for salaries be prepared.

05. Furthermore, I am submitting the document containing the number of vacancies at the district level expected to be recruited as Annexure 01.
