The Cabinet has approved the proposal to recruit 30,000 graduates and youth to fill essential vacancies in the public service.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved 18,853 new recruitments under the first phase, taking into account the vacancies currently existing in the public sector.
For this purpose, a committee headed by the Prime Minister’s Secretary has been appointed to review the staffing levels of various institutions in the public service and submit recommendations for making essential recruitments.
This recruitment will be carried out to fill essential vacancies in the public service, taking into account the rapid increase in the number of unemployed graduates and youth due to the recent economic and political instability due to the Covid pandemic and the existing public financial space.
The Cabinet proposal submitted by the President in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development to allocate Rs. 10 billion for this purpose from the 2025 budget has been approved.
Accordingly, the Cabinet has decided that the relevant ministries should take immediate steps to invite applications for the said recruitments in accordance with the prescribed recruitment procedures and make the said recruitments.
