POST OF LECTURER/SENIOR LECTURER (ON CONTRACT FOR SIX MONTHS) FOR WESTERN CLASSICAL CULTURE/CHRISTIAN CULTURE

DEPARTMENT OF WESTERN CLASSICAL CULTURE & CHRISTIAN CULTURE

The University of Kelaniya will entertain applications from suitably qualified persons for the above posts upto 20th February, 2025.

1. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

(A) Lecturer

A Degree with specialization in Western Classical Culture/Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies) with First or second Class (Upper Division) Honours;

OR

A Degree with specialization in Western Classical Culture / Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies) with Second Class (Lower Division) Honours;

OR

1) (a) A Degree with specialization in Western Classical Culture / Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies) without honours or any other Degree with at least Second Class Honours,

and

(b) A Doctoral Degree with a research component specialized in the relevant field Western Classical Culture / Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies)

or

A Master’s Degree in Western Classical Culture / Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies) obtained after a full-time course of study of at least 24 months duration (or an equivalent part-time course of study) with a research component by way of thesis/dissertation.

or

A full time Master’s Degree in Western Classical Culture / Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies) of a minimum of 18 months durations with at least 60 credits of which not less than 15 credits of research by way of thesis/dissertation.

(One credit considered per course unit/module should be in accordance with the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF)

(B) Senior Lecturer Grade II :

(1) Candidates who are applying for above post should possess academic qualifications required for Lecturer (Probationary)

AND

(i) A Doctoral Degree with a research component specialized in the relevant field Western Classical Culture / Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies)

or

(ii) A Master’s Degree in Western Classical Culture / Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies) obtained after a full-time course of study of at least 24 months duration (or an equivalent part-time course of study) with a research component by way of thesis/dissertation.

or

(iii) A full time Master’s Degree in Western Classical Culture / Christian Culture or Theology (Biblical Studies) of a minimum of 18 months durations with at least 60 credits of which not less than 15 credits are allocated for research by way of thesis/dissertation.

AND

(One credit considered per course unit/module should be in accordance with the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF)

(2) At least six (06) years’ experience in one or more of the following:

1. Teaching at University Level,
2. Professional experience,
3. Research in a recognized Institution,
4. Postgraduate Studies to acquire the qualifications stipulated at (2) above.

2. SALARY

Senior Lecturer (on contract): Rs. 272.998.40 p.m.
Lecturer (on contract): Rs. 221,960.20 p.m.
