01. Duties of Sub-Station Master:-
The agents who are in charge of the ticket sales points are responsible for selling tickets 24 hours a day according to the trains stopping at each station, accepting parcels and handing over the parcels received to the owners, remitting the money collected during the day to the Chief Railway Accountant, keeping the place clean and other duties assigned by the General Manager of Railways from time to time.
02. Allowances:-
This is a non-permanent post, the selected candidates will be paid only commission and approved allowances based on the income of each sub-station. Furthermore, the minimum commission is Rs. 310/- (in cases where the total commission received when the commission is calculated according to income is less than Rs. 10,000/-, a commission of Rs. 10,000/- is payable.) In addition to the commission, an allowance of Rs. 15,000/- is payable.
03. Only male candidates can apply. An applicant can apply for three vacant sub-stations within his/her distance according to his/her preference and if he/she obtains more marks for two or more sub-stations in the examination, the appointment to the sub-stations will be considered in the order of preference mentioned in the application. Once selected for a sub-station, even if the other sub-stations for which preference has been expressed are vacant, he/she will not have any right to apply for those sub-stations again and the preferences for those sub-stations will also be cancelled.
04. Age Limit: –
Should not be less than 18 years and not more than 45 years of age as on the last date of receipt of applications.
05. Educational Qualification:
Must have passed the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in 06 subjects at once with four credit passes in four subjects including Sinhala/Tamil/English and Mathematics.
