Sub-Inspector of Police (Male)
Applications are invited from Sri Lankan citizens for the post of Apprentice Sub-Inspector of Police (Male) in the Sri Lanka Police.
02. Applications prepared in the format given below should be sent to the Director, Recruitment, Apprentice Recruitment Division, No. 375, First Floor, Sri Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi Mawatha, Colombo 06. The application should be sent by registered post to the above address on or before 21.07.2025, indicating the post applied for.
Applications received late will not be processed and applications will not be issued by the Sri Lanka Police.
Interviews will be conducted in the order in which applications are received.
This Gazette Notification shall be cancelled after recruitment is made on a priority basis based on the vacancies in the post.
03. Salary System – (Monthly)
Rs. 55,410 – 7 x 670 – 2 x 890 – 25 x 1,190- Rs.91,630.00.
This salary calculation has been done as per G.P.C. 10/2025.
Furthermore, these officers are also entitled to the allowances provided as per Sri Lanka Police Notification CRTM 260 RTM 385 dated 15.12.2022. In addition to the above salary scale, the following allowances are available to them on a monthly basis.
- Cost of Living Allowance Rs.17,800.00
- G.P.C. Special Allowance (Rs. 1250.00 with 22% of basic salary) paid as per 10/2025
- Hardship Allowance Rs. 2,000.00
- Uniform Cleaning Allowance Rs. 250.00
- Food and Accommodation Allowance Rs. 31,800.00
- Other allowances according to the period of service
In addition to these allowances –
- Transport facilities,
- Welfare medical facilities for officers (financial assistance can be obtained for treatment even in a foreign country),
- Uniforms
- Officers who meet the qualifications will have the opportunity to pursue degree and diploma courses conducted by State Universities, National Police Training Institute and Sri Lanka Higher Educational Institutions
- Facilities to develop their sports skills and innate abilities,
- Travel expenses allowance for duty, hardship allowances and gifts for excellent work will be awarded from the Police Prize Fund.
04. Basic Qualifications Required:
4:1 Age Limit:
- As per the Gazette Notification, the age should be between 18-26 years as on the last date of receipt of applications. However, Police Officers currently on duty in the Sri Lanka Police can apply up to the age of 28 years on the closing date for applications.
4:2 Educational Qualifications:
- A pass in 06 subjects at one sitting at the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level Examination, including 04 credits in Language and Mathematics; And
- a pass in 03 subjects at the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level Examination (excluding the General Common Test).
Note 01
- According to the subject classification of the Sri Lanka Examinations Department, the number of subjects passed in the examination is decided by considering the pair of Science subjects with subject numbers 41:44 as one subject and the pair of Mathematics subjects with subject numbers 42 and 45 as one subject.

- G.C.E. Failure in the written test of the Technical subject of the (O/L) examination shall be deemed to be a failure in that subject even if the practical test of that subject is passed.

- Since the optional Tamil, English and Sinhala subjects are not included in the G.C.E. (O/L) stream, the pass in those subjects shall not be counted as a pass in the G.C.E. (O/L) examination.
4:3 Physical Qualifications :
- Height should be 05 feet 06 inches or more. (167.64 cm)
- Chest should be 32 inches or more. (81.28 cm) Breathing
4:3:1 Every candidate shall be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka and to perform the duties of the post.
4:3:2 Vision Requirements – The minimum vision in each eye without glasses or contact lenses should not be less than 6/12, and when the vision in one eye is 6/6, the other eye should be 6/18.
4:3:3 Should not have any artificial physical changes that are incompatible with the dignity of the police service and may interfere with the performance of duties.
4:4 Other Qualifications:
4:4:1 Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
4:4:2 The applicant should be of good character.
4:4:3 The applicant should be unmarried. (Divorced persons, widows, and those with unmarried children are not eligible)
4:4:4 Should be willing to serve in any part of the island. The qualifications required for recruitment to the post of
4:4:5, 4:1 and 4:2 must be completed by the date mentioned in the notice calling for applications, and the qualifications in 4:4 must also be in the same condition on the date of recruitment.
