HEAD OF FOREIGN DEGREES UNIT
The Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC), established by the Medical Ordinance (Chapter 105) is the regulatory body for medical, dental and other Healthcare Professionals in Sri Lanka, and it seeks the services of experienced and dynamic professionals who are willing to take up the challenge of running the Foreign Degrees Unit of the Sri Lanka Medical Council.
Qualifications:
- Appointees shall hold a basic degree of MBBS/BDS and a postgraduate degree related to the broad discipline of medicine at the doctoral level (SLQF level 12).
- Registration as a Specialist with the Sri Lanka Medical Council, or shall possess a minimum of 10 years of experience as a Senior Lecturer Grade II or equivalent in the field of medical/dental higher education.
- A proven track record of at least 15 years of experience in teaching/ quality assurance and accreditation in medical education and/or higher education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluation of applications made by foreign universities for recognition of Medical and Dental degree programs.
- Evaluation of applications made by medical and dental graduates from foreign universities for approval of their degrees.
- Coordinate different panels and committee meetings relevant to the above unit.
- General Administration of the Unit, including Human Resources Management.
General Conditions
Age: According to the Government Circulars.
Salary: The salary and other emoluments shall be as determined by the Government Circular 01/2025.
Terms of Employment: The appointment shall be on a full-time or part-time contract basis for a period of 03 years with the possibility of re-appointment for a second term.
