Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Grade III Civil Service of the Northern Provincial Technical Service – 2025
In accordance with the decision of the Cabinet meeting dated 27.10.2025, referred to in the letter No. CP/DEC/25 dated 2025.11.05 of the Secretary to the Cabinet Office, in accordance with the request letters No. NP/05/01/CO/APP/2025 dated 2025.12.09 and 2025.12.26 of the Secretary to the Ministry of Local Government of the Northern Province, and in accordance with the approval received in the letter No. GNPC/A15/Approval/2025/020 dated 2025.12.22, the Northern Provincial Public Service Commission has decided to hold an open competitive examination for recruitment to the thirteen (13) vacancies in the Grade III Civil Service of the Northern Provincial Technical Service.
It is hereby announced that the Secretary of the Council will conduct the examination in the month of January 2026. The last date for receipt of applications is 2026.01.16.
Conditions of Recruitment
- In accordance with the provisions of the Service Regulations and its amendments relating to the post of Civil Servant approved by the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province with effect from 2017.01.01 and in accordance with the relevant laws, provisions of the Establishments Code, Financial Regulations and the Procedural Rules for the Northern Provincial Public Service published in the Extraordinary Gazette of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka No. 1817/30 dated 2013.07.03, the selected candidates will be recruited to Civil Servant Grade III.
- Candidates who pass the open competitive examination and meet the qualifications for appointment will be appointed as a Civil Service Officer Grade III in the Northern Provincial Technical Service subject to a probationary period of three (03) years from the date of their appointment. This post is a permanent and pensionable post. As per the service regulations, a Civil Service Officer Grade III must pass the First Efficiency Bar Examination and the First Departmental Examination within 03 years from the date of recruitment.
- This service is a service subject to transfers. However, as per the request letter dated 10.12.2025 of the Northern Provincial Land Commissioner No. NP/28/01/04/Cadre Filling, as per the recommendation dated 10.12.2025 of the Secretary to the Ministry of Local Government No. NP/05/01/CO/APP/2025, as per the approval dated 10.12.2025 of the Hon. Governor of the Northern Province No. G/NPC/A15/Approval/2025/020, this appointment will not be made in the Jaffna District and the appointees will be subject to the condition that they must serve continuously for 10 years in the district to be appointed from among the districts other than Jaffna District in the Northern Province.
