VACANCY
Applications are invited from Sri Lankan citizens for the position of Geotechnical Engineer at the Project Management Unit (PMU) of the Reduction of Landslide Vulnerability by Mitigation Measures Project (RLVMMP). This project is funded by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the Government of Sri Lanka (GoSL), with a project value of US$ 101.3 million. The Ministry of Defence serves as the executing agency, while the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO), operating under the Ministry of Defence, is the implementing agency. The project aims to mitigate landslide risks at 163 identified locations across the districts of Badulla, Kandy, Matale, Kegalle, Ratnapura, Nuwara Eliya, Kalutara, Colombo, Matara, and Kurunegala, as well as unstable areas along railway tracks. Phase I successfully mitigated critical landslide-prone sites, and Phase II is now addressing the remaining sites.
Geotechnical Engineer (01 Position – PS4 level – Category A)
Position Summary, Minimum Qualifications and Experienceе:
He/she shall be responsible for assisting Senior Geotechnical Engineer and senior staff for reviewing and managing
overall Design & Construction works of slope rectification measures under component II of this Project.
- A successfully completed Bachelor’s Degree in the Civil Engineering or equivalent field which is recognized by
the University Grants Commission or
A qualification recognized by the University Grants Commission as an equivalent qualification to the degree in
the field of Civil Engineering or
An associate membership/ similar professional qualification obtained from a recognized professional institution
in the Civil Engineering field
With
At least 08 years post qualifying experience in the geotechnical engineering field and slope rectification works. - An officer of the Government All Island Services Class III/II or above or similar status in the relevant field with
at least 08 years of experience in class III/II post.
Age: Below 64 years as at 05.07.2025
Salary: Subject to the provisions outlined in Management Services Circular 01/2019. The employee contributes 8% of the monthly salary to the Employees’ Provident Fund, while the employer contributes 12% to the Employees’ Provident Fund and 3% to the Employees’ Trust Fund.
