Plantation Housing Programme funded by the Indian Government

The Indian Government has provided grant to construct 10,000 houses for the plantation community living in line rooms and temporary shelters. The programme is implemented in seven Plantation Regions (Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Hatton, Kandy, Ratnapura,Kegalle, and Galle) under the Ministry of Plantation and Community Infrastructure, Community Infrastructure Division for the duration of three years. The Ministry has decided to recruit a Project Engineer and Two Senior Technical Officers on contract basis initially for one year.

1. Project Engineer – 01 Post (Level PS-4)

Educational Qualifications and Experience as mentioned in 1 or 2 below:

1. A Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field recognized by the University Grants Commission Or
   Having passed the Intermediate Examination of a recognized Professional Institute in the relevant field
   And
   At least 07 years post qualifying experience in the relevant field.
2. An officer of the Sri Lanka Engineering Service Class III/II or above or similar status in the relevant field
   with
   At least 07 years of experience in Class III/II post.

For both posts, preference will be given to those with experience in plantation sector development work and foreign funded infrastructure development projects.

Duty Station: Plantation Regional Offices / Ministry Office

2. Senior Technical Officers – 02 Posts (Level PS – 5)

Educational Qualifications and Experience as mentioned in 1 or 2 or 3 below:

1. A Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field recognized by the University Grants Commission Or
   Having obtained a Proficiency Certificate not below than the National Vocational Qualification Level 7 issued by a Technical/Vocational Training Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission for a post related to Technical field
   And
   At least 04 years experience in the required area of specialization.
2. Having obtained a Certificate of Proficiency not below than the National Vocational Qualification Level 6 issued by a Technical/Vocational Training Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission for a post related to the Technical field
   And
   At least 09 years experience in the required area of specialization.
3. Having obtained a Certificate of Proficiency not below than the National Vocational Qualification Level 5 issued by a Technical/Vocational Training Institute accepted by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission for a post related to the Technical field
   And
   At least 14 years experience in the required area of specialization.

Duty Station: Plantation Regional Offices / Ministry Office

General Conditions:

1. The applicant should be below 65 years of age.
2. The Salary of the selected staff will be paid according to the Management Services Circular No. 01/2019.
3. Cost of Living Allowance will be paid in addition to the basic salary.
4. Employee’s contribution to the Government Employees’ Provident Fund is 8% of the monthly salary and the employer will contribute 12%
5. Service Conditions – Initially, this post will be for One year on contract basis. It may be extended based on the satisfactory performance and the ministry requirement.
6. Government employees should submit their applications through the Heads of the Departments.
