Ministry of Agriculture Job Vacancies 2025 – Government Job Vacancies
1. The examination for issuance of Surveyor General’s certificate to practice as an Authorized Draughtsman will be held in several places in the island and in Colombo as per the number and residence of candidates. The examination will consist of two sections:
Part I – Preparation of Co-ordinate Sheets
Part II – Plan work
2. Part I of the examination will be held on 26th July 2025 and Part II on 25th October 2025. Candidates who fail Part I will not be allowed to appear for Part II. Candidates who pass both Part I and Part II at the same examination will qualify for the award of the Surveyor General’s Certificate as Authorized Draughtsman.
3. Candidates are required to satisfy me that :-
- They can prepare a co-ordinate sheet from field notes and co-ordinate a survey traverse;
- They can plot a plan accurately by using CAD soft wear and with the help of coordinates, calculate the area and prepare tenement list with the help of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word as per the specimen given and digitize a plan given and print having prepared at the original scale and having enlarged or reduced, trace a plan available in an imperial method to a metric scale requested.
4. Qualifications for the examination :
- Passing the National Certificate of Education Examination or the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination in six (06) subjects with two (02) credit passes.
And - Successfully completion of a draughtsmanship related course in a period of not less than one year from a Government Technical College or other semi government institution.
5. Examination Fees :
5.1 Fee for the part I of the examination is Rs. 1200.00. This amount should be paid to the shroff of the Surveyor General’s Office, any District Survey Office or the Institute of Survey and Mapping Diyatalawa and the receipt obtained should be firmly affixed in the space provided in the application. (A photocopy of the receipt should be kept for future reference.) The examination fee will not be accepted by money order, stamp or cheque. Applications submitted without a receipt will be rejected.
5.2 Fee for the part II of the examination is Rs. 6800.00. Candidates who pass Part I of the examination will be notified in writing. Only those who pass Part I of the examination should reapply for Part II by paying the examination fee.
6. Preparation and submission of application :
An application, prepared using both sides of a 21 cm x 29 cm (A4) size paper, as per the specimen application given at the end of this notice, should be sent by post to reach to the address below. Wording “Examination for Issuance of Surveyor General’s Certificate as Authorized Draftsmen – 2025” should be mentioned on the top left hand corner of the envelope.

Applications not perfected as per the specimen application, applications not properly perfected, and applications received after the closing date of applications mentioned in the Gazette notification will be rejected.
7. Examination fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.
8. Applications should be sent on or before 09th June 2025. Late Applications will be rejected.

- Drawing papers and co-ordinate sheets required for the part I of the examination will be provided at the examination hall. However, candidates should bring their own drawing instruments, mathematical tables for computation of coordinates and all other material they require. Use of non-programmable scientific calculators will be allowed on the permission of the Supervisor at the examination hall.
- Printing papers and printers required for the part II of the examination will be provided at the examination hall. A laptop computer with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, a calculator without software and other necessary instruments should be brought.

- Every candidate should prove his/her identity to the satisfactions of the Supervisor by producing one of the following
documents :-
(a) An Identity Card issued by the Commissioner of Registration of Persons;
(b) A valid Passport;
(c) A license or an identity document which embodies a photograph of the holder and issued within a period not exceeding three years from the date of the examination, on the authority of a Government Department.
A candidate who fails to submit proof of identity as per the 10 (i) above will not be permitted to appear for the examination.
11. This examination will be held under the metric system.
