Post of Director / Chief Executive Officer
Applications are invited from the citizens of Sri Lanka who possess the requisite qualifications for the above post at the Tea Research Institute of Sri Lanka, Talawakelle.
Job Description:
Responsible for all the Research and Development activities, and Administrative & Financial affairs of the Institute and provide leadership and encouragement to the staff of the Institute.
Qualifications & Experience:
External:
-
A four (04) year special degree in Science / Agriculture or Engineering with a first class or second class upper division from a recognised University and a PhD degree in a relevant discipline.
AND -
At least twenty (20) years of research experience at managerial level and management experience in a recognised Organisation, of which twelve (12) years should be after obtaining PhD degree and five (05) years at senior managerial level and with a proven track record.
AND -
Proven ability to lead and direct multi-disciplinary teams of research scientists / extensionists. Experience in proper deployment and efficient management of human and other resources will be an added qualification.
Internal:
-
A four (04) year special degree in Science/ Agriculture or Engineering with a second class division from a recognised University and a PhD degree in a relevant discipline AND three (03) years satisfactory service as Additional Director OR five (05) years satisfactory service as Deputy Director Research / Extension OR eight (08) years satisfactory service as a Head of Division /Principal Research Officer / Principal Advisory Officer of TRI.
OR -
A degree in Science / Agriculture or Engineering with a two (02) years postgraduate research degree, and PhD degree in relevant discipline AND three (03) years satisfactory service as Additional Director OR five (05) years satisfactory service as Deputy Director Research / Extension OR eight (08) years satisfactory service as a Head of Division /Principal Research Officer/Principal Advisory Officer of TRI.
AND -
Proven ability to lead and direct multi-disciplinary teams of research scientists / extensionists. Experience in proper deployment and efficient management of human and other resources will be an added qualification.
Salary Scale:
HM 2-3 (2016) Rs. 98,215 – 12 x 2,700 Rs. 130,615 p.m.
Age:
Should not be less than 40 years and not more than 50 years. The upper age limit will not apply to the internal candidates.
Method of Selection: By a Structured Interview.

Fully furnished quarters will be provided at the Tea Research Institute, Talawakelle.

Medical benefits available according to the prevailing rules of the Institute’s medical scheme.

Provident Fund: The selected candidate will be required to contribute 10% of the salary to the Staff Provident Fund while the Institute will contribute 15%. The Institute will also contribute 3% to the Employees’ Trust Fund.

Four domestic labour units (Two-Indoor & Two-Outdoor).

A vehicle at the appointee’s option for limited private use at a nominal payment in accordance with existing government regulations.
