Applications are invited for the following vacant posts in the Ceylon German Technical Training Institute under the Vocational Education Division, Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education.
01. Chief Engineer – Production, Services and Maintenance – (HM 1-1)
Qualifications –
External –
- A degree in the field of Automotive, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission and a Postgraduate degree (Master of Science) in the relevant field or membership in a recognized chartered professional body in a subject area relevant to the position and at least 15 years of work experience at the management level in a State Corporation, a statutory board, an institution or a recognized private institution.
or - Full Membership (Fellow Membership) of a recognized chartered professional body in the relevant field and at least 15 years of service experience at the management level in a State Corporation, Statutory Board, Institution or a recognized private institution.
Internal –
- Having completed the qualifications required for external applicants. or
- Having completed at least five (05) years of satisfactory service in a Grade I position in the Management (MM) Service Category in a subject area relevant to the post.
Salary Scale –
As per Management Services Circular No. 01/2025, HM 1-Rs. 140,640 – 4,100X15 -202,140/-
(In addition, eligible for government approved allowances.)
Method of Recruitment – Through Structured Interview
Age Limit –
Must not be less than 35 years and not more than 55 years of age as on the closing date for receipt of applications. The maximum age limit does not apply to internal applicants.
General Conditions Applicable to the Post –
- All applicants must be Sri Lankan citizens.
- Must be mentally and physically fit to serve in any part of the island.
- Must be of very good character.
- The external applicant recruited to the above post will also have to complete a probationary period of 03 years. He/she will be confirmed in the post based on satisfactory performance and persistence at the end of that period. The internal applicant already confirmed in the post will also be subject to an acting period of 01 year.
- Recruitment to the above post will be at the starting salary step of the relevant post.
- 08% of the salary will be deducted for the Employees Provident Fund, of which the institution’s contribution will be 12% and 3% for the Employees’ Trust Fund.

Those currently serving in State Corporations, Statutory Boards and Departments should send applications through their Head of Institution, and the Head of Institution should certify that the applicant can be released from service if selected. A complete application form including two references who are not relatives should be sent along with copies of certificates attested by the applicant to the Manager – Administration and Human Resources, Ceylon German Technical Training Institute, No. 582, Galle Road, Mount Lavinia by registered post on or before 19.06.2025. The post applied for should be clearly mentioned on the top left corner of the envelope and only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview. Applications received after the closing date will not be considered.
