The Bhikkhu University of Sri Lanka will entertain applications from suitably qualified Buddhist monks and persons for the following posts :

Salary Scales – As per the U.G.C. Circular No. 02/2025

1. Professor (Chair) – Rs. 198,280-13 × 4,850-261,330 p.m. [U-AC 5(II)] will be placed on initial salary step Rs. 198,280.00 + Academic Allowance 124% +13,300 + Research Allowance 21% of Basic Salary & Cost of Living Allowance Rs. 17,800.00
2. Senior Lecturer Grade I – Rs. 160,520-7×3,900-187,820/-p.m. [U-AC 3(I)] will be placed on initial salary step Rs. 160,520.00 + Academic Allowance 116% +2,200 + Research Allowance 21% of Basic Salary & Cost of Living Allowance Rs. 17,800.00
3. Senior Lecturer Grade II – Rs. 138,980-11×2,940-171,320/-p.m. [U-AC 3 (II)] will be placed on initial salary step Rs. 138,980.00 + Academic Allowance 116% +2,100.00 + Research Allowance 21% of Basic Salary & Cost of Living Allowance Rs. 17,800.00
4. Lecturer (Unconfirmed) – Rs. 121,340-5×2,940-136,040/-p.m. [U-AC 3 (III)] will be placed on initial salary step Rs. 121,340.00 + Academic Allowance 102% +1,800.00 + Research Allowance 21% of Basic Salary & Cost of Living Allowance Rs. 17,800.00

Notes

• Only Buddhist monks are considered for the posts of Professor (Chair)/Senior Lecturer Grade I/II/ Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/Lecturer (Probationary).
• Preferences will be given to the applicants who have followed the first degree in English medium.
• Those who are appointed to the post of Senior Lecturer Grade I/II/ Lecturer (Unconfirmed)/ Lecturer (Probationary) should complete a minimum service period of ten (10) years to this University and enter into an agreement with the University.
• Teaching in English is considered as an essential requirement.
• For the Assistant Librarian post, preference will be given to applicants who have knowledge and experience in Library Automation, Library Management Systems, Linux Operating System, as well as cataloguing and classification.

Benefits

• In addition to the above salary and any other allowances approved by the University Grants Commission will also be paid to the staff where relevant.
• Those who join the University will become members of the University Provident Fund (UPF) and the ten percent (10%) of the salary will be credited by the employees and 15% will be credited by the University. Three percent (3%) of the salary will be credited to the Employees Trust Fund (ETF) by the University.
• Academic and Academic Support posts are entitled for study leave with pay and without pay as per the provisions of the Establishment Code of the University Grants Commission.
• All appointees to the posts of Professor (Chair)/Senior Lecturer Gr. I and II are entitled for Sabbatical Leave.

Prescribed application forms and relevant information could be obtained from the Assistant Registrar (Establishments) by hand or by post sending a self-addressed, stamped, 23×10 cm in size envelope to Assistant Registrar (Establishments) on or before 26.08.2025 or could be downloaded from the University website: www.busl.ac.lk
2. Candidates who apply for more than one post should submit separate applications for each post.

1. Duly completed application forms should be forwarded with the CV, certified copies of certificates and relevant documents stated in the above circulars under registered post indicating the post applied for on the top left hand corner of the envelope to receive “Assistant Registrar (Establishments), Bhikkhu University of Sri Lanka, Puttalam Road, Anuradhapura” on or before 09th September 2025 and for the post of Professor (Chair) on or before 24th September 2025.
2. Candidates in the service of the Universities, Government Departments, State Corporations and Statutory Bodies should channel their applications through the Heads of the respective Institutions.
3. Applications received after the closing date/ incomplete applications/ not in conformity with the above requirements/ not in the prescribed format of Bhikkhu University will be rejected without intimation.
