ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN (ON CONTRACT) FOR CATALOGUING DIVISION LIBRARY, COLOMBO REGIONAL CENTRE
Applications will be entertained by suitably qualified applicants for the above post.
QUALIFICATIONS :
- A First or Second Class (Upper Division) in a Special Degree
OR - A Second Class (Lower Division) in a Special Degree or First or a Second Class (Upper Division) in a General Degree
OR - A pass in a Degree Examination and a Postgraduate Degree of at least 02 academic years duration in the field of Library and Information Sciences with a research component by way of thesis/dissertation.
Notes :
- An applicant who is eligible under (3) above could be considered for appointment only if no applicant/s qualified under (1) or (2) above is available.
- An applicant who is eligible under (2) above could be considered for appointment only if no applicant/s qualified under (1) above is available.
- Priority will be given to those who have a degree in Library & Information Studies and those who are proficient in cataloguing using the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system. Prior experience in cataloguing will be considered an added advantage.
- Applicant should be able to work in both Languages, English & Sinhala
- Appointment will initially be for six months, extendable based on performance
REMUNERATION : Rs.55,000.00 p.m. (Fixed allowance with EPF & ETF)
AGE : Applicants should be less than 45 years
BENEFITS
Appointees will become contributors to the Employees’ Provident Fund, contributing 8% of their monthly earnings and the University contributes an amount equivalent to 12%. In addition, they will become contributors to the Employees Trust Fund. The University will
contribute 3% of the Monthly earnings of the employees.
