We are seeking a public health nurse to staff a part-time (30 hours per week), on-site, term position located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories (NWT). The term of this opportunity runs until March 31, 2025. Relocation assistance to and from the NWT, if needed, will be offered to the successful applicant.
In this role as a Public Health Nurse your work will focus on Sexual Health Outreach. You will provide public health and case management services to ensure clients who are at high risk of contracting sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections have access to timely, professional, and sustainable services required to maintain optimal sexualhealth and wellbeing.
In this role you will provide and supervise comprehensive sexual health programs to at risk populations; that includes screening, surveillance, contact tracing, treatment, education, and counseling to individuals and populations at risk of sexually transmitted infections and blood borne pathogens within the context of a private clinic setting. You will provide direct nursing care to clients in a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to care, utilizing a problem solving and critical thinking approach, in accordance with the NWT Community Health Core Service Standards Protocols and following clinical practice guidelines to facilitate the quality care of clients.
To be successful in this role you must have
A Nursing Degree, and two (2) years of nursing experience in a Primary Care setting, ER, or within a Community Health Centre or Public Health Unit.
The GNWT offers a competitive salary, the hourly range for this role is $49.12 to $58.68 plus an additional $1.89 (hourly) cost of living allowance, relocation assistance, professional development opportunities, a generous defined benefit pension plan, various leave options, and health/dental benefits!
