Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Post of Supervisor Management Assistant, Grade III, Non-Technical Services Category, Sri Lanka Railways – 2025

Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankan citizens for the Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to the Post of Supervisor Management Assistant, Grade III, Non-Technical Services Category, Sri Lanka Railways.

01. Recruitment through this examination is for the post of Supervisor Grade III.

Written Examination – This examination will consist of two (02) question papers as follows.

Intelligence Test

02. The number of those appointed is 08. In the event that the number of vacancies exceeds the number of applicants who have secured equal marks for the last vacancy or for the last few vacancies, the decision on filling the said number of vacancies shall be taken by the Public Service Commission in accordance with Section 80 of the Code of Procedural Rules.

03. Conditions of Service:

3.1 A candidate selected shall be appointed to Grade III of this service subject to the General Conditions Governing Appointments in the Public Service, the terms and conditions contained in the Recruitment Scheme for the Post of Supervisory Management Assistant – Non-Technical Service Category of the Sri Lanka Railways, approved by the Public Service Commission No. psc/est/04- 01-43/02/2016 and dated 2017.09.12, the amendments made or to be made hereafter to the said Scheme, the provisions of the Establishments Code and the Financial Regulations, and the Rules of Procedure of the Public Service Commission published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2310/29 and dated 2022.12.14.

3.2 This post is permanent. Pensionable. (Subject to future policy decisions taken by the Government regarding the pension scheme.)

3.3 The first efficiency bar test as mentioned in the recruitment scheme should be passed within 03 years of recruitment to the Grade III Advisor of the Sri Lanka Railways Department.

3.4 Language Proficiency:

Official Language – Officers who have joined the service in a language medium other than an official language should acquire the prescribed official language proficiency during the probation period. Other official languages - The relevant level of proficiency should be acquired as per Public Administration Circular 18/2020 and its subsidiary circulars.

3.5 The General Manager of Railways has the power to cancel the appointments of candidates who fail to take up the duties of the post offered to him on the appointed date and/or refuse or evade the duties of the post or the area to which he is appointed.

04. Monthly Pay Scale:

As per Schedule I of Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025 dated 25.03.2025, the pay scale applicable to this post is Rs. 52,250-10x 800-11 x 1190 – 10 x 1320 – 10 x 1350 – 100,040 (MN – 3-2025).
You will be paid salary as per the provisions of the said circular as mentioned in Schedule II thereof. In addition, you are entitled to other allowances paid by the Government to Government officers from time to time.

05. Qualifications for Recruitment:

(a)

To be a citizen of Sri Lanka;
To be of excellent character;
Every candidate should be physically and mentally fit to serve in any part of Sri Lanka and to perform the duties of the post.

(b) Educational Qualifications:

A pass in the General Certificate of Education (Ordinary Level) Examination in six (06) subjects with credit passes in Sinhala/Tamil/English, Mathematics and two other subjects;

And

A pass in all subjects (except the General Common Test) in the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) Examination. (Passing 03 subjects at once under the old syllabus is sufficient.)

(c) Professional Qualifications:

National Technical Diploma or Higher National Engineering Diploma or a recognized technical course in the field of Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics at National Vocational Qualification (N.V.Q.) level five (05) or (06) as determined by the Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission

(d) Experience

Two years of teaching and/or practical experience in a recognized industrial institution in the relevant field is considered a special qualification.

All the qualifications specified above for recruitment to the post must be fulfilled in every way by the date specified in the notification calling for applications/Gazette.

(e)

Age: Minimum limit: Not less than 18 years
Maximum limit: Not more than 45 years.

Salary: Rs. 100,040/-
