Department of Computational Mathematics of the University of Moratuwa announces the commencement of the 18th intake of M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence. The primary objective of the programme is to impart the knowledge of theory and applications of mordern Artificial Intelligence technologies to device intelligent software solutions for tomorrow’s world thereby ensuring multifaceted career paths for the potential candidates.
Entry Requirements
- The Honours degree of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or the Honours degree of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and Management of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka; OR
- The Honours degree of the Bachelor of Science of Engineering of the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka in a relevant field of specialization as may be approved by the Senate; OR
- A four year degree from a recogized university in Information Technology/ Computer Science/ Computer Engineering or any other relevant field as may be approved by the Senate;
OR - A four year degree from a recogized university in a relevant field with a minimum of one year of appropriate experience as may be approved by the Senate;
OR - A three year degree from a recogized university in a relevant field with a minimum of two years of appropriate experience as may be approved by the Senate;
OR - Any recognized category of membership of a recognized professional institute, obtained through an academic route, with a minimum of two years of recognized appropriate experience obtained after the membership, as may be approved by the Senate.
Course Structure
Duration
Two Years Part-time
All lectures, assignments and seminars will be normally conducted online on weekends. The M.Sc. in Artificial Intelligence will require the completion of a one year research project during the second year of the course

Application Procedure
Candidates are required to submit applications via ONLINE mode (via internet) for the academic year 2025/2026 with a scanned copy of a paying-in-slip voucher obtained from any branch of Bank of Ceylon for Rs. 5,000/- (being the application fee for MSc in AI) drawn in favour of the Bursar, University of Moratuwa (Account No: 70993353) together with copies of relevant educational & experience certificates. Applications received in no other medium will be accepted.
