This role involves in advising and guiding the organization, evaluating compliance levels and developing data protection policies to manage risk effectively.
THE JOB
- Act as the primary advisor to the data controller or data processor regarding data protection obligations under statutory regulations.
- Monitor compliance with data protection laws, internal policies, and codes of practice.
- Provide advice on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAS) and oversee their execution.
- Develop, review, and update data protection frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure policies align with statutory requirements and organizational objectives.
- Identify and address areas of non-compliance or partial compliance with data protection regulations.
- Monitor and evaluate risks related to data processing operations, considering the nature, scope, and purposes of data processing.
- Lead the Bank’s data incident response and data breach notification procedures.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for staff, regulators, and supervisory authorities on data protection matters.
- Act as the liaison with supervisory authorities for consultations and reporting of incidents.
- Develop and deliver data protection training programs for staff at all levels to promote awareness and compliance.
- Raise awareness of data protection obligations across business units to foster a culture of compliance.
- Periodic verifications for compliance and progress reporting and monitoring for adherence and adoption.
- Implement governance structure to maintain accountability and transparency.
- To establish a robust control environment that is periodically reviewed and strengthened to ensure compliance with all applicable policies.
- Identify and assess risk related to Programme Management Support and develop and implement Risk mitigating strategies.
THE PERSON
- Possess one or more data protection industry qualifications such as CDPSE (ISACA), EU-GDPR-P, CIPP/E.
- Possess an Attorney-at-Law or law degree holder with high-level qualification in law specializing in data protection.
- Possess more than 5 years’ experience as a Data Protection Officer role or similar role in banking/financial/insurance sector or multinational entity.
- Expertise in handling data breach responses, internal audits, data subject requests, and data protection risk assessments.
- Should have excellent communication skills and conceptual thinking skills.
- Having knowledge of analytics, IT & cyber security and exposure to ISO certifications would be preferred.
The position is at Senior Manager Level.
