DATA PROTECTION OFFICER

We are a dynamic and fast-growing finance company, which is a subsidiary of Bank of Ceylon, committed to delivering innovative financial solutions to individuals and businesses. As a company that highly values compliance with the directives of our regulatory bodies, we are looking to hire a Data Protection officer to upholds the highest standards of Data protection.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead data governance implementation in line with PDPA
• Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to embed data protection
• Ensure compliance with legal, risk, and GRC frameworks
• Provide expert guidance on privacy-by-design and DPIAS
• Support legal teams on data laws in business transactions
• Govern ethical data use and anonymization in analytics Manage and respond to data subject rights requests
• Promote transparent and secure data handling across functions
• Serve as the primary liaison with the Data Protection Authority

What We’re Looking For:

• Sound understanding of regulatory Compliance (CBSL and Government).
• Familiarity with the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) of Sri Lanka and other international data protection frameworks.
• Experience in data protection, legal compliance, information security, data governance. And risk Assessment.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (legal, IT, compliance, and analytics) to ensure adherence to data protection standards.
• Degree from a recognized University or full professional qualification in Banking, Finance, Accountancy, IT is preferred.
• Master’s degree in Banking, Finance, Accountancy, Business Administration, IT or related field will be an added advantage.
• Recognized certification in Data Protection (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM), Information Security, or GRC will be an advantage.
• 5+ years of experience with exposure to regulatory processes specializing in data privacy, preferably in financial services or related industries in Assistant Manager/Deputy Manager Capacity.
