CHIEF ENGINEER
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES AMONG OTHERS ARE,
- Preparation of Designs, Tender Documents including BOQ, Specifications, Conditions of Contracts and Cost Estimation for projects undertaken by Bank.
- Tender Evaluation and Recommendation.
- Taking measurement of completed works and recommend for payments.
- Attending to following tasks in major/ medium constructions and renovation projects undertaken by Bank;
- Checking Tender documents/ Engineer’s estimates prepared by Project Consultants.
- Checking Tender Evaluation Reports.
- Monitoring Construction Progress.
- Checking Progress Bills of Contractors and Project Consultants and Recommending for payments.
- Coordination with Project Consultants, Contractors, Local Authorities to achieve project targets.
- Preparation of EOC papers/Board papers for necessary approvals for major/ medium construction projects undertaken by Bank.
- Any other official Duties and responsibilities entrusted by the Bank which is within the capability and / or expertise of the employee to perform.
- Adhere to rules and regulations imposed by the Bank from time to time.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.
- Should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a university or a degree awarding institute recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.
- Should be a fully qualified Chartered Engineer.
- Possessing a MBA/MSc shall be considered an additional qualification.
EXPERIENCE
Should possess minimum 10 years’ experience in Designing and Construction related to building projects including the following;
- Knowledge on Civil Engineering Specifications, Conditions of Contracts, Standard method of Measurements, Civil Engineering Designs and Interior works.
- Project planning and progress monitoring methods.
- Sound knowledge on computer software packages including Drafting and Project Management Procurement procedures.
- Knowledge of procurement of works and consultancy services.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Leadership, planning, coordinating duties with Main Banking Streams.
- Capacity to achieve targets.
- Capacity of coordination with all relevant parties.
- Communication skills.
- Negotiation Skills.
AGE
Age preferably below 50 years of age as at closing date of applications.
METHOD OF SELECTION
Shortlisted applicants based on the stipulated qualifications and experience will be called for an interview. The appointment will be made on contract basis.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
The position of Chief Engineer in the non banking stream is equivalent to the grade of Chief Manager (Grade I) in main-banking stream in the Bank. The performance will be evaluated annually. The selected candidate should work beyond the regular working hours as and when required and should be willing to visit outstation construction sites to inspect and monitor the progress of the projects.
REMUNERATION
An attractive and negotiable remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered to the selected candidate for the above position.
