Applications are invited from qualified, young, enthusiastic individuals who wish to pursue a career in the legal department of the Bank for the following position:

Trainee Assistant Legal Officer (Vacancies are available in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kegalle)

Main Responsibilities

• Verifying title to immovable properties
• Drafting and certifying mortgage bonds and other relevant deeds and documents
• Providing advice and opinions based on legal principles
• Appearing in courts, drafting complaints, motions and other relevant documents in relation to litigation

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be a Sri Lankan citizen.

Qualifications

• A lawyer and a Notary Public with a license to practice in English. Experience

Experience

• At least one year of post-qualification experience in the relevant field
• Experience in banks or other financial institutions will be an added advantage.

Other Qualifications

• Computer literacy and exceptional communication skills
• Ability to work independently

Age

• The age of the candidate should be 32 years or less as on the closing date for applications.

Terms and Conditions

• The training period is two (02) years and a monthly allowance of Rs. 90,000/- per month for the first year and Rs. 100,000/- per month for the second year will be paid during the training period.
• This post is subject to the normal terms and conditions of the Bank but is outside the normal banking sector (closed service).
• If found suitable in a special examination conducted by the Bank at the end of the training period and if the general conduct during the training period is satisfactory, the post will be confirmed in the rank of Assistant Legal Officer in the permanent staff.
• It is expected that the post will be available for work outside office hours and on weekends and holidays as required.
• Must be willing to work in any part of the island as required by the Bank.
• Candidates selected for special areas (i.e. Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kegalle) must have their Attorney’s Licenses for the relevant jurisdiction.
