Recruitment to the Posts of Drivers / Conductors (Males / Females) on Contract Basis
Applications are invited by the Sri Lanka Transport Board from persons having the following qualifications for recruitment on contract basis for the posts of drivers and conductors for which vacancies exist in all regions of our institution which is a state passenger transport institution where there is a workforce over 25,000 consisting of 107 depots throughout the island and associated regional workshops and driving schools.
01. Post of Drivers (On Contract Basis)
Educational Qualifications and other Qualifications
- Should have passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six (06) subjects with two (02) Credit passes than two sittings)
- Age: Should be between 21 and 45 years
- Should possess a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License older than 03 years
- Minimum weight should be 45 Kg
- Height 5 ft
- Should be physically fit
- Experience gained as a heavy vehicle driver (preferably in passenger transport) in an institution will be an added qualification
02. Post of Conductors (On Contract Basis)
Educational Qualifications and other Qualifications
- Should have passed the G.C.E. (Ordinary Level) Examination in six (06) subjects including mathematics and mother tongue with two (02) credit passes (In not more than two sittings)
- Age: Should be between 18 and 45 years
- Should possess a valid Heavy Vehicle Driving License older than 03 years
- Minimum weight should be 41 Kg
- Height 5 ft
- Should be physically fit
- Possessing a passenger transport conductor license will be an added qualification
General Conditions and Facilities Offered
- Contribution of the employee for Employees Provident Fund will be 8% and the Employer will contribute 12% to Employees Provident Fund and 3% to the Employees Trust Fund
- Monthly Basic Contract Allowance
Driver – Rs. 38,387/-
Conductor – Rs. 37,715/-
In addition to the above basic contract allowance
Cost of Living Allowance – Rs. 17,800/-
Overtime Payment
Incentives
will be paid.
- Will be deployed in service on rotation basis after being recruited.
- Recruitment to the post of driver will be based on the Board procedure as per the results of the trade test conducted after the interview and the vocational training course conducted by SLTB.
- Recruitment to the post of conductor will be based on Board procedure as per the results of the vocational training course conducted by SLTB after the interview.
- A Pass for up and down travelling within 30 km of the work station will be made available after recruitment.

Post applied for and the province should be mentioned on the left hand top corner of the envelope containing the application. It is mandatory to produce the School Leaving Certificate (Student’s Progress Report) and Originals of Educational Certificates at the interview.
